Use this information in your research of penny stocks. Note in the pinksheets.com website where your company is incorporated, and then visit the website for that state and verify your company’s status.

For example, I recently researched a company incorporated in Nevada. Using the Nevada SOS website, I was able to determine that the company was in default status, and was pending a delisting.

Not a good prospect for a long-term buy and hold.

You can also use information from the Secretary of State to locate corporate updates and amendments long before they are posted in press releases (sometimes).
